Both paintings are done by Emilio Sanchez. As a class we saw them at The Bronx Museum in the exhibition entitled "Urban Archives". Can you identify if the artist used one or two point perspective?
I can see that the first oil painting that is displayed shows an example of two point perspective while the oil painting bellow shows an example of one point perspective.
Emilio Sanchez dedicated much of his career to to recreate the effects of sun soaked colors on canvas. In addition to Cuban street scenes he also painted the architecture of NY, the Caribbean, Latin America and North Africa. However it was in Cuba he became most fascinated with the play of light and shadow on colored forms that became an important characteristic in his payments.
One thing that Emilio Sanchez really focused on in his perspective paintings were the tone and value of the different colors he used in his art. Despite the fact that he doesn't show much surface detail in his art Emilio does really focus on the many uses of color, both light and dark.
